We know how important bus travel is to Hull University students, so we offer students two ways of saving money:
- The Semester Card - for Hull University students who live in Halls of Residence.
- The Student Discount Card - for local students, international students, students not living in Halls of Residence and Scarborough campus based students.
Both passes are available to buy online.
If you order your card before the start of term please do not pay for postage. We will have a stall at The Lawns on Saturday 26 September and in the Hull Student Union building from 28 September until 2 October where you can buy or collect your card. After 2 October you can pick up your card from Reception in the Student Union building. Scarborough students can pick up their cards from the Scarborough Travel Centre on Westborough. The Semester Card
This card is most suitable for Hull students living in Halls of Residence. It allows you unlimited travel between Cottingham Halls of Residence, the University and the City Centre using buses 102, 105 and 115. These buses go from Cottingham, past the University, to the City Centre, and during the day they run every 10 minutes, every day except Sunday. You can also use any bus that goes from Cottingham to Hull City Centre, including the 60, 60A, 64 and 154, an unlimited amount of times. Additionally, you can use the 121, 246 and X46 buses between Hull Paragon Interchange and the Hull city boundary as many times as you want. It’s perfect for Cottingham-based students; no hunting for your bus fares in the morning or having to save up your loose change. It also means you can budget for all your transport at the beginning of the year, and not have to worry about it again!
There are two different ways to buy the Semester Card, and whichever way you choose you save money. You can buy Semester 1 at the start of the year for £110, then Semester 2 later in the year for £110.
Alternatively, you can save even more by buying a card for the full academic year for only £199.

Online payments are for new cards only, existing card holders must update and pay at the Travel Centre or at the EYMS stand at the University Welcome Week.
The Student Discount Card - Free top up if you order by 3rd October '09!

The Student Discount Card is ideal for all Hull students who don’t live in Halls of Residence, including local students, those living in private accommodation, international students and Hull University students who aren’t based at the main Cottingham Road campus. It is a free 'stored discount' card which works like a phone top-up card. When you get on the bus the money for your fare is automatically deducted from the card – minus your 20% discount. You can top up the card whenever you want by paying the driver or visiting one of our Bus Travel Centres, and the 20% discount is available on all single and return fares. The balance of the card will be displayed on your ticket, so you can keep track of how much money you have available. Whether you use the bus every day or just now and then, it can save you money. The Student Discount card is available to any Hull University student, including those based at Scarborough.
Please note: you will only receive a 20% discount when a single or return fare is paid for using the funds on the card. You cannot use the card as a flash pass for a discount.
