Help with disabled passengers
A support worker at a local day centre has written to formally commend one of our drivers.
She explains that she boarded one of our buses in Scarborough, along with two adults with learning difficulties (one in a wheelchair), and two carers. She wants to "record my thanks and appreciation for the excellent service and support we received from the bus driver."
"The driver's help and support was exceptional, not only for ourselves, but also for other passengers on the bus and joining the service after us. Examples of this exceptional help and service from the driver include:-
- The driver assisted us entering the bus, and helped us position the wheelchair safely.
- The driver helped an additional passenger with mobility needs to join the bus later on the journey, helping to fold her wheelchair.
- On the journey a young lady with a pram needed to join the bus - again, the driver was exceptionally patient and assisted this passenger to join the bus safely.
- Throughout the journey I observed that the driver was polite, patient and helpful to all bus users.
We cannot thank [this driver] enough - we showed appreciation to him on the day by thanking him, but he was very modest."
