Local bus company East Yorkshire has appointed expert transport manager Barry Jones as its new Head of Operations.

He brings a wealth of experience in both the bus and rail sectors, including spending the last three years at a leading transport company in Oman in the Middle East, where he was strategic lead for the launch of Mwasalat Bus, and two years at First in Bradford.  Before this, he worked in a variety of rail industry roles, including managing some of the largest train stations in the UK.

Barry will provide additional leadership support to East Yorkshire’s operations team as they continue to roll out the benefits of last year’s acquisition by Go North East.

Ahead of starting his new role, Barry commented: “It is such a privilege to have been selected for the position. I look forward to bringing my experience, skills and knowledge of the bus and transportation industry to the company to help build upon its excellent reputation.”

Ben Gilligan, Area Director for East Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to welcome Barry to the team at such an exciting time for the business, and his extensive experience in operational management will really strengthen our senior team as we look towards the future.”

The appointment comes at a key time for the company, following on from a company-wide rebrand, and anticipating multi-million pound investment in buses and infrastructure over the next two years.

Barry Jones will join East Yorkshire in early April.
