Have faith in bus name

Published on

The winner of Big Bus Day's ‘name our training bus’ children’s competition  came to our bus depot on Anlaby Road to carry out the naming ceremony and see her name appear on one of the four EYMS yellow training buses.

The competition judges – members of the EYMS training team - chose six-year-old Faith Hamilton’s suggested name ‘Faith’ as the winner from about 40 nominations by youngsters – some as young as three - who were among the 3,100 people who attended this year’s event – the seventh organised by EYMS in conjunction with Hull’s Streetlife Museum.

First held in 2006 to celebrate EYMS’ 80th anniversary, Big Bus Day has now become one of the Museum’s most popular events, with thousands of people attending each year, and has raised over £9000 for the NSPCC so far.  The £1500 from this year’s successful event was recently handed to a representative of the NSPCC, who had their own stall at the event.

Faith, from North Bransholme, says she chose her own name because she thinks we should have faith in bus drivers.
