Hull Uni Discounts

Student at Hull University? You've got two options for discounts.

Semester Card – This is ideal for any Hull-based student, as it's valid on any of our buses within Hull, Cottingham, Anlaby, Hessle and Willerby.

Student Discount Card – Great for Scarborough campus students, any Hull University students living outside of Hull or those on placements.

The Semester Card

What is it?

It's a bus pass available exclusively to Hull University students, which gives you unlimited travel* on East Yorkshire buses within Hull, Cottingham, Anlaby, Hessle and Willerby.

* Some exclusions apply, not for use on contract buses, special late night buses or special Hull Fair buses.

When can I use it?

You can buy it for either one semester at a time, or for the full academic year. It's cheaper and easier to buy it for the full year at once.

Who is it suitable for?

All Hull University students are eligible to apply for a Student Discount Card. It's great for students who don't live in Hull, Scarborough campus students, and those on placements. Hull College and Bishop Burton College students can also apply for Student Discount Cards.

How much are they?

You can buy a Full Year Semester Card for just £275. This is much cheaper than paying for your fares on the bus each day. Alternatively, you could buy a Semester 1 Card for £145, and then a Semester 2 Card for £165, although it works out cheaper overall to buy the Full Year Card at the start of the year.

Why should I get one?

So you can travel as much as you like without paying more! Go to and from your halls or house, the university campus, your part time job, the city centre, the cinema, the shops, your friend's house… as many times as you want! You'll never have to hunt for change to pay your bus fares, and you'll be able to budget for transport at the start of the year and not have to worry about it again.

How do I get one?

The best way to get a bus pass is to apply online before the start of the university year. Then your pass will be waiting for you when you arrive at university, and you won't have to queue to buy it.

You can also apply in person at our sales stall at the university during the first two weeks of the year – we'll be in the Hull Student Union building.

If you are living at The Lawns or Thwaite Hall you will probably be eligible for a free Semester Card. If so, you'll receive information about how to apply for your free card with confirmation of your accommodation. If you're not sure, please contact the university to check if you're eligible for a free card.

Before applying, please take a look at our Semester Card terms and conditions.

Hull Uni Buses

There are lots of buses to Hull University. The main student buses are Services 103/105, which connect the University campus with the city centre and the main halls of residence in Cottingham. They're really frequent, and they've got free Wi-Fi!

We've also got special Late Night Buses 106 & 107 which are ideal for getting home safely after a night out.

Service 106 runs every Saturday and calls at Hull's most popular nightclubs, the city centre, Beverley Road, the University and then back to Cottingham and The Lawns. It's only £2 flat fare, and much easier than a taxi.

Service 107 runs on student nights (Wednesday and Saturday) direct from Asylum, Hull University's nightclub, back to Cottingham and The Lawns. Recommended by Hull Student Union, it's ideal for travelling home safely, as you can get on the bus right outside Asylum and get off the bus in the car park of The Lawns.

Sorry, University Semester Cards and Student Discount Cards can't be used on special Late Night Services 106 & 107.
